We have reached the other side of the harbor
the sails of the yachts are slapped against the sky
like acrylic colors straight out of the tube
equally thoughtless and simple is the deep
lavender backdrop against which the ochre
mountains are flatly and theatrically stacked
We can keep on continuing along this line
as far as the grave of Ronald Coleman or we
can double back and visit Ross Macdonald’s
locker at the swim club though I seriously doubt
Robert Mitchum will be there what with
the polo season opening this week and all that
